Norway hotel launches husky airport transfers

Norway hotel launches husky airport transfers
14 Feb 2014

A hotel in Norway has launched a unique new service to transport its guests from the airport.

The Kirkenes Snowhotel is now using husky-driven sleds to collect passengers from Kirkenes Airport, one of the country's most northerly, the Guardian reports.

Even if you're not dressed for the Arctic temperatures, the handlers bring thermal suits for you to wear on the 45-minute ride, which costs around £225.

According to the hotel, setting up the service was not easy, as they had to negotiate with not only the airport security services, but also the military border police, as the route runs close to Russia, and the owners of a herd of reindeer.

'It was a lot of effort to set up,' commented Tomas Randol, a guide at the hotel, who isn't sure whether the service will take-off.

'Lets just say you don't become a millionaire doing husky airport transfers. It might be a bit of time before we have 200 dogs lining up to pick people up,' he added. ADNFCR-408-ID-801693678-ADNFCR
