Self service passport kiosks cutting queues at Orlando Airport

Self service passport kiosks cutting queues at Orlando Airport

Passengers travelling to Orlando are to be greeted with new self service passport kiosks, which should cut down the amount of time they have to wait at immigration.

The Automated Passport Control (APC) system allows holidaymakers to input their details, swiping their passport, have their fingerprint scanned and their photo taken, before they get to officials.

Staff then check over the receipt that has been printed, slashing the time from two to three minutes to 30 seconds, thus reducing queues.

Orlando Airport is the first in the US to adopt the system for Visa Waiver countries like Britain, but Chicago has seen waiting times cut by half for US and Canadian citizens using the APC kiosks.

Frank Kruppenbacher, Chairman of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, told the Telegraph: 'We are confident the APC kiosks will make the arrivals process a much better one for all concerned – and especially our friends from Britain.'ADNFCR-408-ID-801696047-ADNFCR
