Abu Dhabi hotels to get graded on social media feedback

The Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) is currently working on proposals to integrate social media feedback into the hotel grading system in the emirate.

TCA Abu Dhabi is considering adopting online ratings as part of a new set of hotel classification guidelines that the authority has been working on since rebranding from the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority in February 2013, HotelierMiddleEast.com reports.

A spokesperson for TCA Abu Dhabi told the news provider: 'Social media use may form part of the criteria for some categories.

'As an authority we are fully behind the use of social media in promoting a destination.'

It is also looking at creating a new classification for hotels and resorts that are considered to be outside the normal five-star rating.

Abu Dhabi already has a 'seven-star' hotel - the Emirates Palace, which opened in 2005. The Burj Al Arab in nearby Dubai also calls itself a seven-star venue. ADNFCR-408-ID-801696775-ADNFCR
