Locals and holidaymakers at Cable Beach in Broome, Australia, got an unexpected display last weekend from a wave-riding crocodile.

Pictures that emerged this week show the 4m-long saltwater croc bodysurfing in the waves just off the beach, which was shut on Saturday (22nd February) while the reptile spent the whole day chilling out in the water.

'I felt really humbled [to have seen it] but you probably would not feel that way if you were out there on a paddleboard or having a swim,' beachgoer Sharon Scoble told the West Australian.

By Sunday, the animal had moved on and officials were able to reopen the beach to the public. Wildlife experts are hoping to catch the croc, which has been spotted in several locations recently, and transport it to the Malcolm Douglas Wilderness Park.

Last year in Australia, an eastern grey kangaroo had to be captured after it hopped into a pharmacy at Melbourne Airport.ADNFCR-408-ID-801698333-ADNFCR
