Celtic Manor named UK's best hotel

The Celtic Manor Resort near Cardiff in Wales has been named the UK's best hotel for the fourth year running.

After more than 4,500 readers of Meetings & Incentive Travel Magazine cast their vote, the five-star hotel took the Gold Award ahead of Chewton Glen in the New Forest (silver) and St Ermin's Hotel in London (bronze).

'What is most pleasing is that this award is voted for by the industry experts who are, in effect, our clients,' Celtic Manor Resort's chief operating officer Ian Edwards told Wales Online.

'It ... reinforces our belief in building a new international convention centre to host much bigger and even better events here in Wales.'

The proposed convention centre would have a capacity of 4,000, making it the largest of its kind in Wales and the south-west of the UK.

Celtic Manor has hosted a range of significant events in recent years, including the 2010 Ryder Cup, on a course designed specifically for the golf competition. ADNFCR-408-ID-801699668-ADNFCR
