Britain remains Tenerife's biggest market
4 Mar 2014

Tenerife continues to attract large numbers of British tourists to its shores, with 1,580,907 British holidaymakers visiting the island in 2013.

This figure accounted for almost a third (32%) of the nearly 5m foreign visitors who holidayed there in 2013 and marked an increase of 0.8% year on year.

Santa Cruz and Laguna in the north-west of the island saw a large increase in British arrivals - up 30% - although the beach resorts in the south of the island remain the most popular.

Commenting on the latest data, Pia Louw, promotion director at the Tenerife Tourism Corporation, said: 'The UK is our most loyal market with a repeat visitor rate of 77%.

'We believe that the reasons for this fidelity, apart from our weather of course, include the huge variety they can find on the island … and the continuous development of new tourism products.'ADNFCR-408-ID-801700029-ADNFCR
