Tourism on the rise in the UAE

New figures from a leading industry body in the UAE has revealed that tourism represents an increasingly-important part of the local economy.

Indeed, it has been revealed that the industry is worth 8.5 per cent of the UAE's gross domestic product, having seen a 4.5 per cent year-on-year rise.

The body said that the increase is largely the result of growth in hotels, travel agents, airlines and restaurants, as well as those other industries that are directly supported by travel and tourism industry.

The year-on-year rise is worth as much as Dh122.6 billion.

Among the most popular destinations in the UAE are Dubai and Abu Dhabi, both of which are popular on the basis of the beautiful weather and spectacular beaches that they have to offer.
