The South African Tourism Department has launched a new feature designed to make it easier for visitors to identify the top attractions that the country has to offer.

The new and impressive-looking travel map has been inspired by former South African president Nelson Mandela, who passed away in 2013.

It has been revealed that the overarching ambition behind the map is to help tourists to visit the best sites in the country, which is home to an amazing array of attractions.

More specifically, the map identifies general places of interest in the four main provinces that defined the life of the former president, who is widely recognised as being among the most influential figures of the 20th century.

Among these destinations are the Eastern Cape, where Mandela was born, in addition to Fort Hare University, where he was working as a human rights lawyer.

Since his release from prison, there have been a number of museums and other landmarks created in honour of Mandela.

But what other attractions are there to see and enjoy in the country?

Kruger National Park

South Africa is a country noted for its spectacular beauty and incredible wildlife - and what better way to enjoy this than by travelling to one of the famed national parks?
