24 Mar 2014

Tourist officials in the UAE and Oman have announced that they are striving to attract more cruises to that part of the world in the coming months and years.

Figures show that the country received in excess of 582,000 cruise tourists in 2013. And it is expected that the figure will reached 600,000 this year, proving that the tourism industry is on the up in this part of the world.

More specifically, it has been confirmed that Dubai welcomed as many as 386,000 cruise tourists in 2013, with ambitions of attracting more tourists from places like India and China through marketing initiatives.

Helen Beck, regional director for international representatives at Royal Caribbean International, said: "We are looking forward to deploying Splendour of the Seas, one of our Vision-class vessels to the region for the first time, and to welcoming guests from all over the world.

"This is a welcome step in continuing to promote the economic and touristic benefits of cruising and I'm sure the season will be very successful."ADNFCR-408-ID-801706129-ADNFCR
