Relax and unwind in Malta

Relax and unwind in Malta
26 Mar 2014

Figures suggest that the tourism market in Malta is on the up - but according to one official, this is not necessarily an accurate reflection on the overall picture.

The island has seen record levels of tourist arrivals in recent times, yet that has failed to truly satisfy tourism minister Karmenu Vella, who said that the figure is slightly misleading.

He pointed out that in addition to considering arrival numbers, it is equally relevant to look at other factors, includingproduct quality, profitability, and sustainability, among others.

Speaking to the Times of Malta, the minister added: "This is not the kind of competition we are hoping for in the future... we'd rather compete on quality than on prices."

He added that in reality, he would rather see fewer people enter the country assuming that they are willing to spend more money.

Mr Vella made the remarks during the launch of the Tourism Product of the Maltese Islands Report, which gives an insight into the current state of the tourism market in Malta, which is a popular destination among Brits.

But if you're intending to holiday here over the next few months, what can you expect to enjoy?

Well, firstly it ought to be pointed out that the island is well-known for its spectacular weather during the summer months and so if you're simply looking to relax and unwind under the sunshine, this may be the perfect destination for you.

Similarly, you can head to one of the wellness centres that you will find on the island, or even one of the spas, where you can get some welcome treatment for various things.

Certainly, if you’re keen to escape your everyday stresses, there are few, if any, better holiday destinations in Europe or indeed further afield.
