Officials expect tourism spike in New Zealand

The New Zealand tourism market is set to see a major boost following a visit from the Royals, Prince William, Kate Middelton and their son, Prince George.

Their presence in the country has attracted lots of headlines, with the attire of the Princess garnering particular attention, while it marks one of Prince George's first public appearances.

The visit has been covered by as many as 120 international media, which goes to underline the worldwide interest in the couple, who have barely left the spotlight over the last few years.

Over the last week or so, they have engaged in a number of exciting tourist activities, including jet boating in Queenstown and sailing on the Waitemata Harbour.

John Key, the prime minister and tourism minister, said that they are sure to boost the industry over the next year.

"The focus of more than 120 international reporters and photographers means pictures and stories of New Zealand are being beamed around the world as the royal tour is reported overseas. As Tourism Minister, I know how valuable that is," he said.

What's more, he explained that the local tourism agency had organised a programme for those reporters charged with the task of covering the visit in order to "showcase New Zealand as an international holiday destination".

"For many, it has been the chance of a lifetime to catch a glimpse of the royal couple. I've seen first-hand how much it has meant to people, young and old, to be part of the generous Kiwi welcome."

For overseas visitors, there are a huge range of activities that can be enjoyed in New Zealand.

If you’re a fan of extreme sports, for instance, then this is one destination that you will want to visit. Likewise the country is also great if you're keen to enjoy some outstanding natural beauty.ADNFCR-408-ID-801712440-ADNFCR
