A new report has underlined the importance of holidays for children.

The study, conducted by HomeAway.co.uk, found that 76 per cent of parents think that holidays are an important time for young people, with research also finding that parents are willing to sacrifice their own happiness and relaxation time to ensure that their offspring have a good time.

Indeed, parents are happy to shun spending time by a pool and drinking cocktails and are instead keen to spend quality time with their children.

Gregory Sion, regional director of HomeAway.co.uk, said that in an increasingly intense society, there is a need for more downtime, adding that happy parents make for happier children.

"More and more people are choosing self-catering holidays because they fit so well with what families want, whether it’s being flexible on mealtimes to choosing the best family-friendly pool, and most of all staying all together in a property of their choosing," he said.ADNFCR-408-ID-801712955-ADNFCR
