Bologna to open foodie theme park

Bologna to open foodie theme park
17 Apr 2014

The Italian city of Bologna is set to welcome a new theme park that will celebrate Italian cuisine, which is widely considered to be one of the most alluring aspects of holidaying in this part of the world.

The park, due to open in November 2015, is supposed to go some way towards helping the country's ailing economy, which has failed to recover from the global economic downturn in the late 2000s.

It is expected to cost around $55 million (£33.4 million) to build and will cover an impressive 86,000 square feet.

Known as the Fico Eataly World, the site is set to boast food labs, specialist grocery stores, restaurants and even an aquarium.

It is hoped that the new building will help to boost the local tourism industry, which is currently reliant on other cities in the country, such as Rome, Milan and Florence.

Despite this, it is still well worth taking the time to visit independently-run restaurants in Bologna.ADNFCR-408-ID-801713769-ADNFCR
