News research has claimed that a tablet computer is the best way to keep kids entertained while on a family holiday.

The study, conducted by Disney, found that this is the most popular way of ensuring that children do not get bored on their travels.

In excess of 80 per cent of surveyed parents said that they turn to a tablet or a smartphone loaded with games as a means of keeping their child happy on long trips.

Of these, more than half said that it provides them with around an hour of peace and quiet, which is always welcome on a lengthy journey with youngsters.

This has, however, prompted questions as to whether it is good for a child's broader development, with some experts suggesting that it may harm their social skills in the longer term.

Earlier this week, a report found that the majority of parents are willing to sacrifice their own happiness while on holiday for the sake of their children.ADNFCR-408-ID-801713770-ADNFCR
