World Cup will lead to tourism boost for Brazil, WTTC says
24 Apr 2014

A new report from the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) has claimed that Brazil will see a dramatic rise in visitor numbers thanks to the 2014 World Cup.

The event, which is to be staged this summer, has led to significant infrastructure improvements in major cities and the tourism industry is set to benefit in a major way, too.

That is according to a new report by the WTTC, which said that in 2013, the tourism industry' contribution to the economy grew by 3.4 per cent, while it is expected grow a further 5.2 per cent this year.

WTTC president David Scowsill observed that Brazilians ought to embrace the event.

“Brazilians tend to holiday at home and so are not expected to travel abroad in big numbers to avoid any disruption from the event," he said.

“International visitors coming for the World Cup will help to open up the country to a new global audience.”ADNFCR-408-ID-801714937-ADNFCR
