The travel and tourism sector is an increasingly important part of the Moroccan economy, according to new figures.

Indeed, government government spokesperson Mustapha El Khalfi has confirmed that in the month of March, the tourism sector generated revenues worth 4.291 billion dirhams.

Mr El Khalfi observed that there was an 11 per cent increase as compared to the same period in 2013.

And during the first quarter of this year, tourism was worth as much as 12 billion dirhams, which, again, represents a rise on the same period 12 months earlier.

In this instance, it represented a three per cent spike.

Morocco is, of course, already a popular tourist destination among Brits, a large number of whom are drawn to the beautiful weather and culture in this part of the world.

A recent report said that the number of Brits who intend to go abroad this year has increased, with in excess of nine in ten Brits hoping to holiday abroad in 2014.ADNFCR-408-ID-801715739-ADNFCR
