Top holiday destinations cut their prices to five-year low

Prospective British holidaymakers can rejoice: dozens of top European holiday resorts have cut their prices to five-year lows.

According to research, the low prices are the result of the cheaper cost of dining out, with prices in some destinations nearly 20 per cent down on the same point last year.

This means that, in some instances, prices are at their lowest levels since 2009, when the global economic recession really started to hit home.

Reflecting on this scenario, travel expert Simon Calder told the Express: “The surge in sterling against the local currency makes Turkey the bargain destination for summer 2014.

“The pound is thankfully less puny than it was against the euro but to get the best value you need to choose your destination carefully.”

This comes shortly after a recent report said that in excess of nine in ten Brits are hoping to holiday abroad in 2014, up from 83 per cent a year earlier.ADNFCR-408-ID-801715762-ADNFCR
