According to Pat Quinn, this is the third consecutive year of record-breaking tourism numbers.

What's more, it is expected that the mayor of Chicago Rahm Emanuel will soon confirm that some 47 million domestic visitors came to the city of Chicago in 2013, which is an all-time record high.

Added to this, overseas visitors are expected to increase to more than 1.4 million visitors this year, while the ultimate goal is to draw in 55 million visitors on a yearly basis by 2020.

This comes shortly after it was revealed that southern Nevada witnessed record monthly visitation in March, which saw the third straight month of visitor volume rises.
