Tunisian officials turn to Star Wars characters to attract more tourists

Ever since the Arab Spring 2011, a number of top tourist destinations in North Africa have struggled to attract tourists to their part of the world, with people opting to stay away due to misplaced security fears.

Egypt, for instance, has seen a dip in visitor numbers, as have other states in the region.

However, tourism officials in Tunisia have taken matters into their own hands - and decided to call on stormtroopers in a bid to get more visitors to the country.

The state was, of course, used to film Star Wars films and this reality is being played on in the hope that prospective holidaymakers will consider spending their hard-earned cash here.

It has been announced that Tunisia's national tourism office is collaborating with the local Star Wars fan clubs to host a convention that pays homage to the hugely popular film franchise, which remains one of the most successful in history.ADNFCR-408-ID-801716982-ADNFCR
