Abu Dhabi launches new app to attract more tourists

Tourist officials in Abu Dhabi have launched a new campaign that is designed to lead to a spike in visitor numbers to the emirate, even though recent figures show that it is already on the up.

Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority has launched its full mobile strategy with ‘native', meaning that information regarding what's going on in the emirate is being made available for iPhone, Android & Windows Phone.

The move has been timed to coincide with a major improvement made to the VisitAbuDhabi.ae destination portal.

As a result of the recent changes, all content will now fit onto mobile screens regardless of the handset that is being used.

“We had pent up demand for mobile solutions with VisitAbuDhabi receiving 1.3 million visits via mobile devices, including tablets, last year alone and our new mobility suite addresses this,” commented Mouza Al Shamsi, acting executive director of marketing and communications at the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority.

“Mobile is now a digital essential in the travel and tourism world,” he added.

Designers of the VisitAbuDhabi apps say that it represents a marked improvement on earlier offerings, as it is easy to navigate online.

One of the reasons behind the recent spike in popularity is the fact that Abu Dhabi has recently started hosting formula one races, thereby raising the profile of the emirate.

Also, its global standing has increased ever since the emirate invested in Manchester City Football Club, which competes at the top of the Premier League table.

Recently, a report confirmed that Abu Dhabi's 152 hotels and hotel apartments have enjoyed their best quarter ever in terms of guest numbers, guest nights and revenue.

In the first three months of the year, as many as 834,771 guests checked into the emirate’s accommodation, which goes to underline its ever-increasing popularity.ADNFCR-408-ID-801717382-ADNFCR
