Canada welcomes new viewing platform in national park
6 May 2014

Canada has welcomed a new viewing platform that offers visitors an incredible panoramic look over one of the most beautiful parts of the country.

The new Glacier Skywalk is located in Alberta's Jasper Park and provides a wonderful vantage point from which the stunning sights of this area can be enjoyed.

Tourists can capture some amazing shots from here using a camera or a video recorder, owing to the fact that the platform juts 35 m out from the side of the cliff.

What's more, it also hangs some 280 m above Sunwapta Canyon.

Despite this, the platform has not been universally well received, with some environmentalists saying that it is not correct to build something of this nature in the park.

Sean Nicholson of the Alberta Wilderness Association told Canada CBC's website: "They represent almost a taking over of the management of the park in a sense by commercial interests, which we don't think is a good thing for the wildlife that live there and the ecosystem in general."ADNFCR-408-ID-801718033-ADNFCR
