New research has revealed that more than 1.5 million Brits intend to travel abroad this year for a wedding.

The study, conducted by ABTA, said that an increasing number of couples are keen to combine their wedding and honeymoon.

One of the main reasons for this is that the costs involved in both can prove extortionate, and this is one way of keeping a lid on them.

Research shows that the average cost of having a wedding overseas as compared to the UK is around £10,000 lower.

Among the most popular destinations for this are New York and Las Vegas, which are also popular for honeymoons.

Italy, Greece and Cyprus are popular destinations among Europeans, research found.

Earlier this month, a report revealed that UK-based holidaymakers are increasingly reliant on online forums when it comes to determining their holiday destination.

TripAdvisor, for instance, said that more than 150 million reviews and opinions have been posted on the site.ADNFCR-408-ID-801719477-ADNFCR
