A new survey has confirmed that New York is now the most expensive place in the US to rent a car, with travellers in the city having to pay an average of $76 per day for the cheapest available rental car.

The Big Apple finished ahead of Detroit, which came in second place, according to the report, which observed that the least expensive destination is Orlando, Florida.

Memphis, meanwhile, was listed as the third priciest place to visit in this regard.

Los Angeles, San Diego and Las Vegas were also named among the cheapest places to visit.

This comes just after a report that said in 2012, the nation's businesses spent as much as $384 billion to send travellers on 452 million business trips.

It revealed, too, that the business travel industry supports 7.1 million jobs, generating a whopping $118 billion in federal, state and local taxes.  ADNFCR-408-ID-801720322-ADNFCR
