Cyprus official predicts spike in visitor numbers

La Plagne named top ski resort
15 May 2014

The French destination of La Plagne has been named as the most popular ski resort in the world in a new industry report.

It has been revealed that this scenic location has attracted the highest number of visitors over the last few ski seasons and should, therefore, appear high on the list of must-see holiday resorts.

On average, the resort has welcomed more than 2.5 million per annum, making it the most popular travel destination of its kind in the world.

Meanwhile, the most popular non-European destination was named as Whistler, in Canada.

The report itself was produced by Swiss business consultant Laurent Vanat, which ranked destinations according to visitor numbers.

Earlier this year, ABTA - The Travel Association observed that the number of people taking ski holidays without adequate winter sports insurance is 'alarming'.

Some 36 per cent of the one million people who head on winter sports breaks each year do so without purchasing cover.ADNFCR-408-ID-801720651-ADNFCR
