19 May 2014

Following a record summer for tourism in Auckland, officials in theNew Zealand city have announced even more ambitious targets for the coming years.

Indeed, it has been confirmed that the city’s tourism agency has increased its revenue targets to 2021 by more than $1.2 billion.

The news was announced by Mayor Len Brown, who said that it was a reflection of the positive trade done by the tourism sector over the last few months.

He added: “Achieving the Auckland Visitor Plan targets would create 12,000 new jobs in Auckland, many of which will provide front-line career opportunities in retail, attractions and hospitality, as well as in the construction sector, to enable the development of vital new infrastructure, such as hotels.”

The mayor said, too, that the ambitious plans for the tourism sector will also help to reduce youth unemployment in Auckland, one of New Zealand’s biggest cities.ADNFCR-408-ID-801721368-ADNFCR
