A new report has confirmed that spending on travel cards increased in three out of the first four months of the year.

The news has been revealed by Mastercard Advisors, which provides professional services to Mastercard.

According to Sarah Quinlan, group head and senior vice-president at Mastercard Advisors, sales growth climbed steadily in the early part of the year.

In fact, she said that there had been a vast improvement on the year before.

"Travel businesses in the UK should be encouraged by the positive sales growth in April," she said.

"As the economy strengthens we would expect to see momentum build this year with consumers becoming confident to spend hard earned wages on summer holidays or short city breaks rather than saving everything for a rainy day."

Meanwhile, London was recently named the world’s most popular city among overseas visitors, thanks to its incredible array of attractions.ADNFCR-408-ID-801721323-ADNFCR
