Celeb honeymoon could boost Ireland’s tourism industry

Celeb honeymoon could boost Ireland’s tourism industry
27 May 2014

The biggest celebrity wedding of the year between Kim Kardashian and Kanye West may have taken place in Italy, but it could well be that the Irish tourism industry is the main beneficiary of their decision to tie the knot.

Over the last few weeks, many of the Western world’s red-top publications have been full of speculation regarding the wedding.

For instance, it has been reported that hip-hop superstar Jay Z was to be the best mad at the event, while his equally famous wife Beyonce was also set to be in attendance.

There has been plenty of speculation, too, over the dress that Kim would wear in what would be her third wedding.

However, following the ceremony over the weekend, the couple took what was perhaps a surprising decision in deciding to hold their honeymoon in Ireland – a move that is sure to be well received by tourism officials in the country.

Indeed, the extent of the coverage regarding the power couple is sure to do wonders for the industry and could well lead to a spike in visitor numbers over the coming weeks and months.

"We're working hard to produce a guide for their fans about where they are, or rather where they might be," Tourism Ireland’s marketing director Mark Henry said.

"We'd love to be able to give their millions of followers the information so maybe they can follow in their footsteps. It's a global story."

Speaking on Twitter, he added: "A big welcome to Ireland @KimKardashian and @kanyewest from all of us at @TourismIreland - we're working to improve the weather right now..."

Given the array of attractions and the natural beauty of the Irish coastline, it is easy to see the draw for the new married couple, who would have had their pick of destinations.ADNFCR-408-ID-801723309-ADNFCR
