Michealangelo exhibition opens in Rome
28 May 2014

The work of one of the world's most influential artists is being displayed at an impressive new exhibition in Rome.

Michaelangelo will, of course, forever be associated with the Eternal City, as it is here that he moved during his youth and produced a large number of his most famous works while in lived in the Italian capital.

His biggest achievement, perhaps, is the incredible painting that adorns the roof of the Sistene Chapel.

In fact, it is among the most iconic pieces of artwork ever produced and is one of the main attractions of visiting the Vatican.

The impressive show begins with Madonna of the Steps, which the artist actually created at the tender age of 15 and gave onlookers a glimpse of the depths of his incredible talent.

Altogether there are as many as 150 works in the collection, including a huge array of busts, sketches, statues and oil paintings.

It's important to note, though, that not all of the works are those of Michaelangelo, with a number of the pieces in the collection having been created by some of his contemporaries.

There are, of course, plenty of alternative attractions in the city, including the Colosseum and the Roman Forum, both of which are iconic landmarks in their own right.

What's more, if you're going to holiday in Italy, you should take advantage of the tasty food that is offered in many of the family-owned restaurants throughout Rome.

Pizza is a staple of the local diet and there is no better way to escape the hustle and bustle of the Eternal City than by dipping into a restaurant and lining your stomach with some lovely food.

You can also enjoy some Italian wine, while you eat and soak in the sights of this beautiful and historic city.ADNFCR-408-ID-801723751-ADNFCR
