New mummy exhibition opens at British Museum
30 May 2014

One of the most popular tourist attractions in London has opened a new exhibition that is sure to attract lots of visitors over the coming weeks and months.

The British Museum is located in the heart of the city and is well worth seeing if you get the opportunity to do so.

And following the launch of a new exhibition that centres on the bodies of eight Egyptian mummies, visitors numbers could be set to spike.

The bodies have been preserved, either naturally or by deliberate embalming and tell some fascinating stories in their own right.

The museum has used cutting-edge technology to create a picture about the lives of each of the mummified bodies.

Among the bodies currently lying in the museum are a temple singer, a middle-aged man and a young child.

"Using interactive technology, discover new information about each mummy, from their state of health to how they were embalmed and preserved," the museum explained.

"Unravel the mysteries of mummification and gain a unique insight into these people’s lives."

Tickets for the exhibition are available at £10 for adults and are free for those aged 16 and under.

There are, of course, plenty of alternative attractions in London. Many of the museums and galleries, for instance, are sure to broaden your horizons and give you a real appreciation for culture.

One of the best of these is the National Portrait Gallery, which is located in Trafalgar Square and is among the most popular tourist destinations in London.

Here, you will find paintings of some of the most influential characters in British history, including kings and queens through the century.

So, if you're looking to enjoy a cultured break in the city, then make sure you visit at least one of the top museums and galleries that London has to offer.ADNFCR-408-ID-801724984-ADNFCR
