Things to see in London this summer
30 May 2014

The weather in London may be quite gloomy at the moment, but there are plenty of great events on the horizon.

The city is, of course, a hive of activity at this time of year - and so if you have got a trip planned for the next few weeks or months, you're going to be spoiled for choice.

Here, we're going to take a look at some of the top events set to take place in London this summer.

Among the biggest and best music festivals being staged in the capital over the next few weeks and months, this year's edition of Lovebox promises to be as good, if not better, than ever.

That is largely because of the incredible line-up that has been named ahead of the event.

Among those appearing at the show are M.I.A. and hip-hop legend Nas, who will be performing tracks from his iconic debut album Illmatic, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

The Proms

Of course, the Proms may not be everyone's cup of tea, but this is the biggest event of its kind in the UK.

A real treat for fans of classical music, it features many of the most well-known talents that the genre has to offer.

It ought to be noted, too, that efforts are being made to ensure that this year's edition appeals to a broader audience than ever before.

To this end, a special sports-themed night of entertainment has been arranged in recognition of the great events being staged over the summer, which include the World Cup, Commonwealth Games and Wimbledon.

Notting Hill

This is the largest street festival in Europe and one that is well worth seeing if you get the opportunity.

Staged over the August Bank Holiday weekend, the festival is an impressive mix of sound and colour that form the backbone of West Indian culture.ADNFCR-408-ID-801724884-ADNFCR
