More UK airports offering free Wi-Fi
3 Jun 2014

A new survey has revealed that 22 out of 25 of the UK’s main airports now provide travellers with free Wi-Fi access while they’re waiting for their flights.

This is a 28% increase compared to May 2013, indicating that Britain’s travel hubs are responding to the changing habits of travellers from all over the globe, most of whom use tablets and smartphones regularly.

The research was conducted by Airport Parking and Hotels, and revealed that while free Wi-Fi is available, it’s not unlimited in most locations.

Nine of the airports offered 30 minutes of free access, while three provided 60 minutes of browsing time without having to pay. Certain air travel hubs also attached stipulations to the use of the free Wi-Fi, such as making a purchase from one of the catering outlets.

Norwich International, Aberdeen, Birmingham and London City were named as the only airports where free Wi-Fi access is unlimited.
