Brazilians prepare for World Cup fun

The World Cup is moving nearer all the time and despite suggestions that the country will not be ready in time, president Dilma Rousseff has expressed confidence that the event will ultimately transpire to be a success.

The tournament begins next week and the president has insisted that it will be a resounding success, contrary to what some so-called experts have claimed.

Indeed, she observed that the ongoing issues with infrastructure delays are common to most events of this nature.

"Everywhere in the world these big engineering projects always go down to the wire," Ms Rousseff remarked.

"Nobody does a (subway) in two years. Well, maybe China," she added, sarcastically.

For holidaymakers the World Cup represents a great opportunity to visit one of the world's most culturally interesting destinations.

Rio de Janeiro, in particular, is home to a fascinating array of attractions, such as Christ the Redeemer and various beaches.ADNFCR-408-ID-801725900-ADNFCR
