Anyone who enjoys getting off the well-trodden tourist trail on their getaways will want to see which locations feature in the new Lonely Planet guide to Europe’s top secret places.

The eBook offers advice about 50 hidden gems all over the continent, with several of these being found in the UK and Ireland.

Battle, in East Sussex, London’s Wilton’s Music Hall and the South Cotswolds were among the UK’s often overlooked attractions, according to the guide.

In Ireland, two places were featured in the guide - the Cromane Peninsula and Kavanagh’s Pub in Dublin. The former is said to be a fantastic detour for anyone following the Ring of Kerry, providing the opportunity to enjoy some solitude and beautiful views.

Locations elsewhere in Europe that appear in the eBook include Olomouc in the Czech Republic, Cabo de Gata in Spain, Pripyatsky National Park in Belarus, Ithaca in Greece, and Burg Satzvey Castle in Mechernich, Germany.
