Mobile museums hit the USA

Mobile museums hit the USA
11 Jun 2014

The USA’s famous Greyhound bus service is marking 100 years with a rather unusual project - mobile museums.

To celebrate a whole century of ferrying passengers around the States, the firm has created two mobile museums - within its buses, of course - that will travel around the country.

Philadelphia, Washington DC, Houston, New Orleans and San Francisco will be among the cities the Greyhound museums visit.

If you step inside you’ll find exhibits relating to the bus company’s history, including vintage driver uniforms, old signs and interesting snippets of information about the firm and how it began.

The tour started on 29 May in Boston and will conclude in Los Angeles on 21 December. Travelling on a Greyhound bus is one of those quintessential American experiences that many tourists want to have during a holiday in the USA.

Currently, Greyhound has a fleet of 1,735 buses and covered 5.5 billion passenger miles in 2012.
