Bolshoi to hit NYC

Bolshoi to hit NYC
10 Jul 2014

The internationally renowned Bolshoi Ballet is set for an extended appearance in New York City as a part of the Lincoln Center Festival.

Performing three separate pieces from July 15th to July 27th, classical dance fans will get the chance to witness a range of different choreographed pieces put together by the iconic Russian troop.

Kicking off the stay will be a performance of Yuri Grigorovich's Swan Lake, which will run from the 15th to the 20th, followed by a representation of Alexei Fadeyechev's production of Don Quixote, which will take place from July 22th to 23rd.

Don Quixote is to be based around the choreography that Marius Petipa and Alexander Gorsky have previously put together.

This will be followed up with Grigorovich's Spartacus, which will span from July 25th to 27th.

The ballet will feature some of the Bolshoi’s principal dancers including: Ekaterina Krysanova, Mikhail Lobukhin, Ruslan Skvortsov, Artem Ovcharenko and Denis Rodkin, Svetlana Zakharova, David Hallberg, Maria Alexandrova, Ekaterina Shipulina, Vladislav Lantratov, Olga Smirnova, Anna Nikulina and Maria Vinogradova.

Ballet fans who are visiting the Big Apple this month may wish to take a trip to see the ballet, which promises to be adventurous, grand and full of emotion.

The two-week engagement will not only feature three full length dances but also one opera-in-concert and New York's first chance to see the combination of the Bolshoi Ballet, Opera, Orchestra, and Chorus.

“The Bolshoi’s sweet side. The dancers’ athleticism is thrilling as is the inspiring synchronization and elegant upper-body positioning of the whole cast, from the corps de ballet to principals,” said Los Angeles Times of The Bolshoi’s Swan Lake.

What’s more, the Independent once described the Bolshoi as “the best company in the world for Don Q” in reference to its production of Don Quixote.

Whether an avid fan, or a casual observer of ballet, the Lincoln Center Festival is the perfect opportunity to witness a truly special spectacle in one of the world’s most iconic cities.ADNFCR-408-ID-801734566-ADNFCR
