Record passenger numbers for Edinburgh Airport
18 Jul 2014

Edinburgh airport handled more than 10 million passengers during the period between June last year and June 2014, becoming the first airport in Scotland to deal with this level of passengers in the course of a single year.

Last month was also the location's business June yet recorded. Overall, 993,758 passengers used the airport during the month, which is 3.8 per cent more than did so the previous June.

The airport wants to hit the goal of handling 10 million passengers during a single calendar year and is expecting to reach this level in 2015.

"We're now focussed on targeting 10 million passengers in a calendar year. Our forecasts suggest it'll be close this year but more realistically 2015. We'll be working very hard to achieve that target," said chief executive Gordon Dewar.

Specifically, last month international travel through the airport was up 5.5 per cent year-on-year, to 561,718 passengers, with domestic passengers numbering 432,040 - a 1.6 per cent hike.ADNFCR-408-ID-801736116-ADNFCR
