Enter Opodo's Matisse competition

There's still time to enter Opodo's new Matisse competition, which closes on August 1st.

You could win tickets to see the much-talked-about show Matisse: The Cut-Outs at the London art venue Tate Modern in this comp, which you can find out about here (click here for the terms and conditions).

Henri Matisse: The Cut-Outs opened April 17th at the famous Southbank gallery, and is set to stay in place there until September 7th this year.

It's subject is the cut out works created with paper that the artist made in the years from 1937 to 1954, when he died. Organisers claim it's more comprehensive than any other exhibition held about these works.

There are over 100 pieces to be seen at the show, which is also set to be displayed at New York city's Museum of Modern Art starting October 14th this year and going on until February 9th next year.

One of the pieces on show is 'The Snail', depicting a swirl of colourful shapes. 'Memory of Oceania' and 'Large Composition with Masks' are also on display, and organisers say that a photo of the artist's studio space shows the trio were first conceived as being one whole work

The Cut-Outs show is billed as the first occasion in over five decades that the three have been put on show together.

As Tate explains, when he couldn't paint because of his health later in his life, Matisse started making painted paper cut out pieces.

Another exhibition called 'Malevich' has recently opened at Tate Modern.

This is set to be on show there until October 26th this year and focuses on Kazimir Malevich. It is billed as the first major retrospective of the man's work for close to 25 years.ADNFCR-408-ID-801737993-ADNFCR
