Experience Muse of Fire at Shakespeare's Globe

Experience Muse of Fire at Shakespeare's Globe
1 Aug 2014

Muse of Fire, a family friendly theatrical treat, is set to appear in London this August.

This treasure-hunt experience will be at Shakespeare's Globe from August 18th to 27th, having enjoyed a sell out debut run there during autumn last year.

The piece takes the form of a treasure hunt and story and was first put on as a way of marking 400 years since the Globe Theatre - of which the current version is a modern recreation - burnt down.

It comes recommended for families with kids aged from six to 11, and sees its final stages happen in the Globe's new edition, the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse.

Participants get to see unseen parts of the famous theatre. They will meet a hermit from the Elizabethan age taking refuge beneath the stage, battle against ethereals in a forest setting, visit an abandoned library to take tea and prevent the theatre from being burned down.

Meanwhile, Globe Education holds Story Days, the next of which is based on Shakespeare's most famously stomach-churning play, Titus Andronicus. However, this performance is now sold out. The Story Days see storytellers retelling Shakespeare plays in a way parents and kids can enjoy.

Anyone thinking of visiting the Globe may also want to check out its Exhibition & Tour which looks at London, Shakespeare and theatre, with the chance to see demonstrations of exciting things like stage fighting.

For grown-up theatre goers, the violent tragedy Punishment Without Revenge is one of the things coming up at the theatre, set to be staged there in the original Spanish in early September, between the 1st and the 6th of the month.

The play is by Lope de Vega and has never been performed at The Globe before. English language overviews of the action will help those audience members who can't speak Spanish follow the revenge-themed action of this 17th century play.

The piece explores the story of what happens when the Duke of Ferrara's illegitimate son and his soon to be bride become lovers, and he takes revenge on them when he finds out.ADNFCR-408-ID-801739472-ADNFCR
