Special airport performances in Edinburgh

Special airport performances in Edinburgh
4 Aug 2014

With this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival up and running, the city's Edinburgh Airport is hosting several performers in its terminal.

The airport says this is a way of providing passengers with a great experience and sample of what they can expect in the city this month.

On August 1st, the airport was visited by Jan und Friedrich, a comic act from Germany, who were the first to perform as part of the initiative.

Meanwhile, a new ticket collection point has been put in place in the arrivals hall at the airport.

This lets people pick up tickets as soon as they land in the city for the events they're planning to see there as part of the Fringe.

"This is an amazing time of year where our city truly comes alive. We work closely with city partners to bring some of the buzz and atmosphere out to the airport and we’ve got a great selection of Fringe performers lined up to entertain our passengers over the next few weeks," explained Edinburgh Airport chief executive, Gordon Dewar.

He added that the ticket collection facility in-terminal is a genuine bonus, meaning people can print tickets in-airport and save more time to look around Edinburgh.

And Mr Dewar even added that he's used the machine already to pick tickets up.

He said that the airport is getting itself into the spirit of the fest and wishes to ensure everyone who visits has a brilliant experience at the airport and welcome to the city it is based in.

Meanwhile, Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society chief executive Kath M Mainland has spoken of the pleasure it gives her to say the festival has finally begun.

"We have been getting ready for Fringe 2014 for the past year and it feels fantastic to launch what will definitely be an unforgettable month of arts and culture," she added.ADNFCR-408-ID-801739652-ADNFCR
