July saw more than one million people fly from London Luton Airport, with June boasting similarly large numbers. As such, the airport has seen it's busiest ever summer.

And Luton is predicting that 2014 will see it record more passengers than ever before.

"Demand from leisure and business passengers was remarkable in June and July and we expect to announce record passenger numbers for August too," said London Luton Airport Operations Limited executive chairman, Clive Condie.

Luton is set to boost yearly passenger capacity to 18 million by 2031 (it currently stands at 12 million). This is thanks to a £100 million development for the location, for which planning permission was given several weeks ago.

The airport will give its terminal a make-over and extension as part of the move, and overall development work has been predicted to create more than 5,000 jobs.ADNFCR-408-ID-801742552-ADNFCR
