24 Sep 2014

St Lucia’s prime minister has announced plans to upgrade and expand its tourism sector.

Speaking at an event, Dr. Kenny D. Anthony  unveiled a number of new improvements that the country would be making to the tourism sector, including a speedier service to private jet and high-end customers, and the development of new hotels.

He also added that plans to construct a new airport in the south of the country have not been neglected, while other proposals include updating the arrivals and departure services.

Commenting on the planned developments, he said: “Many hotels will expand and upgrade facilities so that we can improve our product offering. Capella Marigot Bay Resort and Marina reopened this month following a multi-million dollar renovation, and Windjammer Landing and The BodyHoliday are currently undergoing renovations."

Mr Anthony also revealed that Saint Lucia has seen an eight per cent increase in UK visitor arrivals from January-July 2014 compared to 2013.ADNFCR-408-ID-801750277-ADNFCR
