M&S Simply Food announced for Edinburgh Airport
26 Sep 2014

October 1st sees the opening of a new branch of M&S Simply Food at Scotland's Edinburgh Airport. Resulting in 20 new jobs, the shop is set to be 1,766 square feet in size.

The M&S branch is the first shop opening in a fresh terminal extension at the airport.

People will be able to find the M&S Simply Food located within the domestic arrivals hall there, near where they enter this part of the complex. The placement has been arranged following feedback from passengers.

It's Edinburgh's third M&S Simply Food in a travel spot. Waverley rail station already has one, as does Haymarket rail station.

The shop is being introduced at the airport in a partnership involving SSP UK and Marks & Spencer.

At the location, people will be able to buy things like food, flowers, drinks and more.

Its opening hours will be long, befitting its airport location. Every morning it will open at 5am, closing at 11pm.

"We’re constantly speaking to our passengers and we listen to what they want. A premium convenience store where you can pick up everyday essentials before and after your journey is something we’ve been planning to give our customers for a long time," said Edinburgh Airport head of retail and property Richard Townsend.

He added that officially giving word of the shop's opening is great, and that the airport's terminal extension is nearing completion.

"We’re looking forward to offering our passengers an amazing airport experience," he concluded.

SSP UK's Bob Johnson explained that Simply Food is already a hit in airports in other parts of the UK.

Everyone is busy and, more and more often, on the look out for good food while they're "on the move" he said.ADNFCR-408-ID-801750937-ADNFCR
