Celebrate New Years Eve in style
2 Oct 2014

Ring in the new year in style by taking a trip away for the most anticipated night of the year. Here are some of the best destinations to visit for the occasion that’s guaranteed to be one that you remember for life.

New York

Well, it is the city that never sleeps, meaning that is is also the perfect place to spend the early hours of 2015. Watch the Times Square ball drop at a minute to midnight, a tradition which has taken place every New Years Eve since 1907, just make sure to set up camp early to get a good view. The countdown begins at 6pm, as One Time Square offers an explosion of pyrotechnics every hour up until 11pm, before the celebrations really kick off.

Once the new year rings in at midnight, the city is lit up in a flurry of colourful fireworks, as confetti falls and lines the street.

Celebrate New Year (or Hogmanay as the Scots call it) in Edinburgh and experience the greatest street party of your life, as live bands and DJs fill the streets with music.

Edinburgh’s city centre comes alive as people from all over the globe await the strike of midnight, when a fabulous firework display will light up the iconic backdrop of Edinburgh Castle.

The celebrations also offer a fantastic Concert in the Gardens, which will be headlined this year by Lily Allen, as well as a torchlight procession led by Shetland’s Up Helly Aa’ Vikings and the massed pipes and drums.

Join in with the Spanish tradition of Nochevieja, in which you eat 12 grapes at the stroke of midnight, one for each time the bell chimes. According to the Spaniards, if you can eat the grapes in time, the next year will be full of good fortune. Not to worry though if you don’t manage to eat them all in time, at least you and your friends had a laugh trying.

Head to the Plaça Catalunya for a breathtaking fire display that kicks off a street party that will have you celebrating all night long.ADNFCR-408-ID-801752318-ADNFCR
