Significant investments made at Helsinki Airport
13 Oct 2014

Those planning on flying from Helsinki Airport will be in for a treat as Finavia, the airport’s operator, is planning a 900 million euro (approximately  £709,285500) development programme, which will include an expansion to create a shopping experience.

It is estimated that the development programme will encourage people to visit Finland and Finavia is expecting the passenger volume to increase to 20 million passengers per year by 2020.

As part of the developments, there will be a total number of 70 new shops and restaurants at the airport, with Finavia collaborating with World Duty Free Group (WDFG) to create the ultimate shopping experience for travellers.

So far a number of new shops have opened at Helsinki Airport, including Hugo Boss, Armani Jeans, Mont Blanc and Porsche Design. A wealth of restaurants has also appeared to whet appetites, such as Freshly Made, Two Tigers Sushi & Noodle, Grab & Fly and Johan & Nystrom.

It is also expected that with this increase in passenger volume and developed shopping area that there will be approximately 5,000 new permanent jobs created.ADNFCR-408-ID-801753921-ADNFCR
