New York begins See Your City campaign

It’s the city that never sleeps and is one of the most popular tourist destination throughout the four corners of the world. There is so much to see and do that the city has even begun a campaign to attract tourism from its own residents.

The See Your City campaign, which has been created by the city’s tourism marketing organisation NYC & Company, focuses on ten of New York’s neighbourhoods, including Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island.

Fred Dixon, president and chief executive officer of NYC & Company, said of the campaign: “For visitors, a trip to New York City is a vacation of a lifetime. For a lucky 8 million, it’s just a subway ride away.”

It is hoped that by encouraging local tourism, various neighbourhoods that aren’t particularly on the agenda of those who visit from other countries, such as Harlem and the Long Island City riverfront in Queens, would become more appealing and ‘vibrant’.
