George Lucas reveals plans for Chicago museum
23 Oct 2014

Fans of Star Wars should forget Tinseltown, for famed director George Lucas has announced details of his art and movie memorabilia museum, which will be opening up in a galaxy (not so) far away in Chicago.

The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art will open up in the Museum Campus on the city’s lakefront, Lucas told the audience at a forum for Chicago Ideas Week on Friday (October 17th).

Chicago is perhaps a surprising choice of city for Lucas to have chosen, given that he is well known for being Californian born and bred, and the fact that such a museum would be at home in Hollywood.

However, those heading to the windy city can thank his wife, Mellody Hobson,  for this decision.

Being a Chicago native and prominent business woman herself, she was able to persuade the Star Wars genius to change his mind from the golden state.

For those wondering, the museum will showcase much more than artefacts from the Star Wars franchise and can expect to see memorabilia from Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings, as well as Norman Rockwell paintings, to name but a few.ADNFCR-408-ID-801755958-ADNFCR
