Keira Knightley to make Broadway debut
27 Oct 2014

She may have sailed the seven seas in the Pirates of the Caribbean, but Keira Knightley will soon be heading to America’s East Coast as she makes her debut on Broadway.

The Anna Karenina star will be playing the title role in Thérèse  Raquin, which is based on Emile Zola’s classic 1867 French novel.

The play will be offered by the nonprofit Roundabout company, which operates three Broadway venues, and will be launched next October as part of its 50th anniversary season. It was first commissioned by Todd Haimes, Roundabout’s artistic director, from the latest adaptation by Helen Edmundson and was presented at the Bath Theatre Royal this summer.

While Ms Knightley hasn’t appeared on Broadway before, she does have experience with the stage, having performed in London’s West End in 2009 in The Misanthrope and The Children’s Hour two years later.

As Thérèse Raquin, Ms Knightley will be treading the board as a young woman who is trapped in a loveless marriage and decides to embark on an affair with a friend of her husband’s.ADNFCR-408-ID-801756710-ADNFCR
