Chocolate is one of the greatest pleasures in life, as is going on holiday, and those heading to Thessaloniki will certainly have the time of their lives as The Choco Factory and Museum will be open until March 6th 2015.

Covering over 2,500 metres squared, the museum has enough chocolatey goodness in it to keep even Augustus Gloop satisfied.

Situated on the premises of Thessaloniki International Fair, Pavilion 1 has been transformed into a delicious fairy tale land, where visitors will start their journey by learning about the beginnings of chocolate, with information on the cocoa tree and its fruit.

There is even the ruins of an Aztec temple and a jungle, in which the museum has actually created tropical climate conditions, and an Amazon hut to explore.

A trip to quality control will allow visitors to create their own chocolate souvenir to take home, that is if they can make it out of the building without giving in to temptation.

There are also two workshops on offer, which will see the children really get to work with their gloves and aprons on to create and package their own chocolate creations. It’s a great place to visit before heading to the Chocolate Chemistry Lab, which is very important as it is where you will learn about how to examine chocolate, via texture, shape and expiration to name but a few.

The Chocolate Library is also a must visit for those who decide to pay a trip to Thessaloniki and it will definitely prove to any young ones that learning can be really fun. The library contains various printed materials, including recipes, magazines, newspapers and books, which all revolve around chocolate, sweets and nutrition.

Putting Willy Wonka himself to shame, there is even a chocolate waterfall, which when added to a fun maze is the recipe for one very fun day out.ADNFCR-408-ID-801756939-ADNFCR
