Nevada celebrates 150 years
4 Nov 2014

While October 31st is best known throughout the world as Halloween, those living in the state of Nevada have a completely different, yet just as exciting, reason to celebrate as it marks the state’s anniversary.

On October 31st in 1864, exactly 150 years ago, Nevada was signed into statehood as the 36th state of the US by then president Abraham Lincoln.

And what a 150 years it has been for Nevada, for the state has seen the construction of the largest dams in the US, including the world famous Hoover Dam, as well as a nuclear test site.

What the state is perhaps now best known for is the legalisation of gambling and, of course, the creation of Las Vegas, which is one of the world’s favourite holiday destinations due to its fun loving atmosphere and plethora of chart topping concerts.

In fact, Las Vegas led the celebrations on Friday with the Las Vegas Nevada Day Parade.ADNFCR-408-ID-801758320-ADNFCR
