Easter in Venice
09 March 2006

The glorious city of Venice is a treat to visit at any time of the year but at Easter one special treat is the Easter Monday Fair.

Being very popular with the Venetians, the fair on Via Alvise Pisani specialises in antiques, but there is also great entertainment laid on for children.

The fair is a great way to get away from the many tourists that head to Venice and experience the Italian side of life in this unique city.

The best way to explore the city is to have a good map and just wander.

Although the main sights such as San Mark's square, the Rialto bridge and the Doge's Palace are well worth experiencing, heading beyond the tourist hotspots you can find equally inspiring sights, cheaper restaurants and warmer welcomes.

The old Jewish area, the Ghetto Vecchio, is well worth exploring.

As you meander over bridges and along canals you are sure to meet residents, see washing hanging between buildings above the water and get a real taste of Venice.
